Do intestinal strictures/adhesions cause loud noises

Yes! It's like a growling, groaning orchestra sometimes. I often think other people must be able to hear it too 😖.

Have you been scoped, and was there narrowing, hardening of the bowel wall?

Shar, people with crohns disease can develop strictures from repeated cycles of continued inflammation & healing of the lining of the intestines. Sometimes they may need to increase their medication or change it to get the healing process going. Gi drs can see this during a colonoscopy & rate the severity & size of the stricture. Depending on this, some people do not need to do anything but monitor the condition, or a balloon dilation procedure to a strictureplasty. In severe cases it can lead to bowel obstruction. The only time I get the noise is if I have eaten something that I shouldn't have & things can get loud, lol. Crohns strictures can cause a lot of nasty symptoms & people end up in ER.

I read that you are going to have a manipulation done in 2 weeks, if this were me I would ask for an MRI of the abdomen before doing anything. Going into something like this unknown is like putting on a blindfold & throwing darts at a dart board. Without proper testing you maynot even have the problem.

Thank you so much Ambling, Straydog and Erudite Paul. I think I will take your advice and investigate further with some medical tests like a colonoscopy, MRE and/or a CT scan. I will talk to my Gp and see what she thinks might be best to do first. Hopefully, I will get concrete answers. Thank you for your time in replying back to me. I really appreciate it x

I tried entyvio, but I have discovered that only the anti-tnf ones will work for me.
Humira, Cimzia, remicade, and the new one stellra.

Entyvio is not anti tnf I forget which it is but it just didn't do anything for me.

Yes loud noises are often your intestines working to push stuff through where it is tight.

After having so many surgeries this past year I have learned about adhesions.

Adhesions are bands and surgeons describe them as saran wrap. Plastic saran wrap that is very sticky. They can grab and stick to the intestines making it hard for the intestines to move around. This is why they force you up and moving right after surgery. They don't want adhesions to form and stick all of your intestines together. Worse than this, and the real issues is that they can cause the intestines to kink, or twist up which prevents stuff from passing through. They can cause an obstruction, but it is on the rare side. Often they will let go of your intestines. There are many treatments for adhesions involving massage, or exercise. Surgery where they are cut through is the only way to remove them. But they will come right back just hopefully in a different spot.

Strictures on the other hand are not adhesions at all. Think of a waterhose. Now imagine a nice piece of mud stuck up inside there. This mud would be scar tissue inside your intestines. It is hard for anything to get past this. But your intestines will sure keep trying, and trying as if your life depended on it. Also keep this in mind. Every surgeon told me that obstruction pain, and distention pain when the bowels swell up like this is the WORST pain PERIOD! There is nothing equal to it.

This scar tissue inside your intestines that has formed a stricture does not go away. You must have surgery to have it resected or cut out. Strictureplasty is sometimes an option. This cuts the intestines in a certain way to open them back up so stuff can flow through easier. You don't lose intestines with strictureplasty. You do lose them with a resection.
