I still haven't gotten vaccinated for covid yet. Therefore I spend most of my time at home. Due to having crohns and a few other ailments I'm afraid to get the vaccine. Who on here has gotten the vaccine, which one and what were your side effects? Has anyone gotten the vaccine and still got covid? If so how sick were you?

Hi Bucko, I had the 2 Moderna vaccines the first shot was fine, the 2nd one low grade fever & chills for 24 hours & then I was fine. Both gave me a sore arm like the flu shot.

If you will scroll down this page you will find top of the mountain posting about the vaccine & there are some replies. The UC forum had several threads going at one time & the majority of them posted about their experience.

There are break through cases, however, these vaccines are designed to keep people out of the hospital & off of ventilators. Take care.

I have had both doses of the Pfizer vaccine (Cominarty). Like you, I was a bit hesitant as my Crohns is so reactive to everything usually. But I needn’t have worried as I didn’t have many side effects. I just got a bit of a sore arm and fatigue for a day or so after the second shot. But I had zero GI side effects and I was feeling a little unsettled beforehand so was pleasantly surprised. My mum (who has rheumatoid arthritis) had no side effects as well.

Had two doses of Moderna (second was in early April) and have since had booster. First dose, felt tired and had a headache that grew the first day but took some Tylenol at night and woke up fine. Second dose a little tired but more of a sore arm and a little bit of a rash that lasted a few days. Booster/3rd dose I just had sore arm and a rash. Praise science!

I have gotten the first two merderna shots back in feb/mar with no issues. Got the third merderna first day it was approved. All went well.

Astra Zeneca here. The first dose was brutal - spent a sleepless night with a fever, chills, nausea, pain. Was completely better after 24 hours though. The second dose had no side effects at all.

I'm getting my booster vaccine this week. It will presumably be AZ again, but I'll update this post to report on side effects (if any) from it.

There's a possibility I had Covid back in June - it was either that or another viral infection like tonsillitis. It felt too bad to be just a cold, as I was seriously ill for a week and took another 2 weeks to recover. I was nowhere close to being hospitalised, but dang: I had already been double vaccinated by that point so if it was Covid I dodged a bullet there.

Quick update to say I got Pfizer for my booster vaccine. Bit surprised at that, but it appears the UK is using Pfizer and Moderna for its booster shots rather than Astra Zeneca. I wonder if that's anything to do with AZ not performing as well as expected...

Anyway, I had zero side effects apart from a rather bad sore arm for a couple of days.
