Thanks for the replies everyone. Just a minor update. She did get a call from her IBD nurse, who discussed her blood work with her. They aren't necessarily suspected microscopic bleeding, but want to rule it out, so having a fecal test first, and will likely want to do a lower scope, as she hasn't had one in over 10 years.
The nurse did say, that she could benefit from an iron infusion, but here in Canada, our health care system won't cover it, unless you can prove that OTC/oral iron can't be taken, or isn't effective.
Many rave about our health care here, but there are all kinds of problems with it. If you're a drug addict, you can get free methadone for the rest of your life. If you overdose, free narcan. They hand that out like candy to people who've never remitted a tax dollar in their life. Need an iron infusion? Sorry, out of luck. Also, it's extremely expensive to pay for it yourself, so that might not be an alternative either.
Sorry for the rant, I usually try not to go down that road. Thanks again to everyone for the replies.
