Hi Tom:
So sorry to hear about your daughter's issues. Children shouldn't have to deal with diseases/conditions. My daughter has been complaining of tiredness for months now and has trouble sleeping like me. Hopefully, it's just because she gets up earlier for work, goes out with friends frequently now, since Covid is creeping away, helps
here quite often. Hopefully, no diseases. A few of my aunts do take B12 shots for Anemia. Thankfully, my daughter is an adult, not a child.
Constipation...seems I was born with it(Ugh! Hate it). I use Restoralax or Clearlax by Equate occasionally, from Walmart.
While I was in the hospital a few years ago, for I forget what, they did the usual CBC tests, etc and found that I was Anemic. My level was 6.7. The Doctors asked how it was possible that I was functioning. Then I was given different scans to see if I was bleeding inside. Nope!
"A hemoglobin level of 4.7 is dangerously low and if not properly treated could become fatal. Normally, women should have a hemoglobin level of 12 or more, men 13 or more. Generally, hospitals will begin emergency blood transfusions when the hemoglobin level drops below 7 or 8."
They also did the peripheral blood smear and discovered that I had Microcytic Anemia(like I need any more conditions). Did your daughter's Doctor say what type of Anemia she has? There are many reasons for Anemia and different types, as you know. One being, chronic diseases and inflammation.
Anyways, after I had the blood transfusion, I was feeling great. My Doctors do tests often but they haven't noticed
anywhere that low of a number again. I'm in Ontario also. Once a person is in a hospital, they try to get to the bottom of the problem.
The darn Covid cases have taken a lot of our health care resources plus the too many new arrivals to Canada. If our government allows so many people in, then they should be putting way more funding into our health care system. Surgeries are back logged as you probably know. I'm on the list for another surgery too.
The Best to you and your daughter.
