Good morning all!
(Short version: How do dental abscesses and humira generally play out?)
Looking for some more advice/background from the community. Please!
Never had good teeth. Dental visits have only been for a few extractions over the years. Other than brushing every morning, that was it.
Forward to today. 10 weeks into Humira, 40mg every 14days, showing good response, and I am sitting here with two infected molars and the prescribing doctor is missing in action. I have no idea what to expect with my first TNF blocker infections.
Dentist started me on 500mg 4x daily Amoxicillin two days ago. No fevers, no other signs other than local sensitivity but I can't get into her chair to have them pulled until Monday. My next bi-weekly humira would be on that same day. Not taking that one.
Are these dental infections more of a common occurrence and the majority of dentists familiar with tnf blockers etc? Can a family dentist normally handle these things?
I know the teeth are a mess and something needs to be done pronto but I really don't have a lot of bandwidth at the moment. kinda freaking out.
