Thankful,
I have Crohn's disease and a colostomy. I use foods to thicken and thin my output.
I use high sugar drinks with caffiene to thin my output....I clear partial obstructions by not eating and drinking Pepsi. It works Everytime. Grapejuice works alittle but if I drink a regular soda with caffiene in it... That really helps.
If I want to slow my output I eat dried fruits, rice and other things that work for me. For some reason the dried fruits bind things up and make my output much thicker. Fresh fruit does not do that to me as much.
I was aware of how food impacted my Crohns-but when I got my colostomy-then I started realizing the immediate impact of food and transit timing. Now I get to watch what I eat for Crohn's and what to eat if I don't want an obstruction or if I need to slow things down.
Don't be sad about
my stoma... It saved my life and improved my quality of life. I am so grateful for it. Plus it taught me even more about
how food impacts your body. BTW..caffiene impacts how your body absorbs vitamins...like vitamin D, B, and C.
Hope you feel better soon. You're In my prayers.
Clo
