Glad the dietary changes are helping right now. Diet wouldn't replace treatment, but the two together are certainly important. Sounds like your GI is very proactive going with what's called a top down approach. Biologics like Humira have been extremely effective in keeping Crohn's under control. There's arguments over whether starting with such intensive treatment is overkill early on, but if you undermedicate, and let the disease get out of control, it can do a lot of damage. In hindsight, I would have opted for this approach for my Daughter at an earlier age.
As for support, I would recommend you check the Crohn's Colitis Foundation website. There will be quite a lot of resource info. on there for you to check out. I do believe there's a Crohn's kids type forum simply called the Crohn's forum. There's subsections for kids on that. I think I used to frequent it when my Daughter was first diagnosed. My personal opinon on discusson/forums is that Healing Well is the best of all. You will get plenty of guidance here.
Good luck going forward. Dealing with this can be daunting, especially early on, and even more so when it's your child that your trying to advocate for. Also, keep in mind that your Son is very young. There's been huge strides made in treatment over the last 10-20 years, and in his lifetime, there will be considerably more. Keep us posted, and ask questions. All the best to you and your Son.
