Doubts about necessity of Chrons colonoscopy surveillance

I had six inches of small intestine cut out in 2018 due to Crohn's inflammation. I had a follow up colonoscopy shortly after that. Five-ish years later am now set to get a follow-up colonoscopy despite no inflammation or problems, with the idea that I'm supposed to do this every three to four years in perpetuity.

That seems weird? I'm in my 30s. No family history of colorectal cancer. No history of inflammation specifically in the colon. Every four years seems very frequent.

The guidelines in medical literature online seem all over the place.

How does this align with what you all are asked to do?

I don't think that's excessive. Inflammation in CD is pervasive. Say you have a exam and a spot of inflammation is found. Its not bothering you at the time, but they take a biopsy and determine its deep through the lining. At least you may be able to start a medicine to slow the progress.
My Drs found a loop to loop fistula many years ago during a scope. I know its not pleasant , but a necessary evil I guess.
Just talking from experience as a veteran of maybe 45 scopes both full on colonoscopies and sigmoid oscopies . and a dozen endoscope exams or so. Btw having a double in august😁

I think that every 3 to 4 years is wise. My spouse has had to do that for 40 years. He was in his 20s...

Once diagnosed with UC and Crohns...I was every 6 months for 2 years, then yearly for 2 years... COVID hit... I waited til 2023..(3 to 4 years). And it showed I had low grade inflammation and that I'd had it for some time. So we are playing with my Remicade and MTX meds and trying to get it under control. (Which I've been on for 8 years) And now I'm back to every year... Sigh.

So your every 3 or 4 years.... Looks like a luxury timeline to me.... Lol....
