I don't think that's excessive. Inflammation in CD is pervasive. Say you have a exam and a spot of inflammation is found. Its not bothering you at the time, but they take a biopsy and determine its deep through the lining. At least you may be able to start a medicine to slow the progress.
My Drs found a loop to loop fistula many years ago during a scope. I know its not pleasant , but a necessary evil I guess.
Just talking from experience as a veteran of maybe 45 scopes both full on colonoscopies and sigmoid oscopies . and a dozen endoscope exams or so. Btw having a double in august😁
