I’ve had Crohn’s for over 15 years and have been on Humira for about 10. I’m currently in a flare and my dr wants to switch my medicine and is suggesting Skyrizi.
I am hesitant to change as I’ve been well for a while (no flares for over 2 yrs) - I had to space out my Humira a few months ago so missed regular doses then was on antibiotics etc etc and am wondering if that caused/contributed to this flare. I’m on 40mg prednisone now and my colonoscopy shows a lot of inflammation.
Question: is it possible to get back on track with Humira or do I have to change meds? Has anyone experienced this?

It seems you were doing well with Humira. 10 years is a long time of course, but many get 15+ years on some anti-TNF's. Remicade would be the closest thing to Humira, and there is a school of thought that If you've done well on one, the other should get good results as well. You could get your trough levels, antibodies checked to see where you're at with Humira.
Skyrizi is somewhat of a new Crohn's med. You might not get many reviews here. You might consider Stelara? Good luck going forward. Keep us posted.

I went through the archives & did not find anyone on Skyrizi. I found a couple old post where it was mentioned but no one actually on it.
Have you had your antibodies checked, if not I would request they be checked. If your antibodies are too low the dr can have you take weekly shots instead of every two weeks. If your antibodies are too high, then it's time to switch medications, perhaps Stelara.
Keep us posted.

Hi straydog, I think you're getting your terms mixed up. You want antibodies low. There is no "too low" for antibodies. I think you meant if your serum levels of adalimumab are too low, not the antibodies, then you can go to weekly shots instead of every two weeks.

Thank you for the replies! The humira bloodwork should come back this week. I am going back and forth with this, I’ve been doing so well for a while and now am back in the position of making a big decision while I’m sick. These flares seem to snowball so fast 😞 What it ultimately comes down to is I think I’m afraid of the medicines and side effects and it’s safer to stay with what I know but I also realize if that isn’t working for me anymore then I need to re-evaluate. I was afraid of Humira and Remicade once too and am still here **shrug** The options my Dr suggested were Stelara, Entyvio, Skyrizi, or Rinvoq. The prednisone is helping for now a bit but I have to decide soon
