I had high cholesterol for years which was not medication induced. I could clean up my diet & it would go down to an acceptable level.
My level a year ago was 220,my cardiologist did not feel it warranted being put on medication, instead look at diet. I have a visit coming up soon so I will be tested again.
Personally, with a number a little over, I would not have started medication, instead I would finish my loading doses. I would wait 2 months after being on the maintenance dose to see if things level out. We are seeing more UC patients drs doing this with a lower end number.
Your dr has no way of knowing that this will be a life long issue, he was remiss making a comment like that.
