A new coronavirus reinfection after 2 weeks. Is this possible?

I had a coronavirus infection on 5/12. I took then azithromycin for 6 days and became better. I was having issues with throat soreness as I have long standing GERD. Two days ago , I. saw the ENT doctor for follow-up on a CT scan for nasal drip and he informed me that my throat was inflamed most probably because of my GERD. Yesterday, the soreness became worse, had a runny nose and muscle pain and slight fever (37.3). Given that I have had several coronavirus infections since 2020, I won’t mistake the symptoms. I’m scheduled to have a colonoscopy beginning of next week. Is it normal to have a reinfection after only 2 weeks? Each time I get infected, I have to stop Rinvoq for a couple of days. I don’t know bow would it start working if I keep skipping doses because of recurrent infections.

Thank you, Sharon. Well, I texted my GI and he said I shouldn’t stop Rinvoq. Plaxovid interacts with Rinvoq so I don’t think it’s a good option for me. I think he prescribes antibiotics since my immune system is very suppressed and I can’t fight off any viruses on my own and keep getting a lot of infections. This infection, especially throat soreness, has been persistent for over two weeks. I take 3 meds for it: a compounded gargle that has pred, a spray for sore throat and an oral gel that I can swallow and neither of them could cure the soreness. I don’t feel it’s GERD related. It could be partially but there is another underlying cause which I think is the infection. My GI decided to postpone the colonoscopy until I get better.

If you get Paxlovid it leaves a tin taste in your mouth. Both my brothers got Covid, and Sars-1 back in 2001.
