Well here it is again. Completed my 24th year on TPN intravenous feedings today. Was at my short bowel nutrition appointment today. Was talking with my GI specialist and asked if he new anyone as long-term as me and he did not. I am still the only VA home tpn patient in the 3state system . they have nursing home ones but home use is short term except for me. Ain't I special.😋 not drooling kind of special , but close😁
Joined here in 2002 and was one of the first 80 or so after the site relaunch in Jan 2003. Seems so long ago. So many good people have come and gone from us here.

24 years of this is incredible. I'm so glad that you're making it with this treatment. This may be a stupid question, but do you ever eat even the smallest amounts or get overwhelming cravings or just want to eat? Wishing you well going forward, and good health to you in '24 as well.

Monte, I can and do eat whatever I want. I'm still connected. I was disconnected in 2000 for several months and had a jujenostomy at that time. With my short gut I consume 4-6 k calories A day. I think if I was not able to eat and drink, I would be in a much different state of mind🤔

That's just amazing! I am so glad you have persevered over this dreaded disease. Your postings provide so much support for others. They make me think, give me courage, hope, and strength. Plus there are the times when you just make me laugh out loud..

I do appreciate you and am glad you are carrying on.

24 years is a long time. I too wondered if you ate food. You have been on one hell of a journey & have shared so much here, your contribution to this forum has been incredible. I came along in 2003 & remember much of your journey.

24 years! Wow! You really gave me positive energy as you could struggle with this darn disease. People always tell me that I have strong will as I do not eat a lot of the food that I’m sure would throw me into a flare up, but you are really very strong and I do appreciate your strength and perseverance. Wishing you all the best in your 24th TPN anniversary:/

I was feeling like the little train thats saying was starting to change to.... I think I can, Maybe I can, well.... Maybe I can't.... when you popped into my mind.

It gave me that extra strength that I needed to power thru.
