Post-op question...

Hey! I just had an ileocecal small bowel resection 3 wks ago and feel probably just as bad NOW as I did BEFORE surgery. I am nauseous after any amount of food eaten (not eating much). I get really bad bubbly stomachs/cramping etc.
I am just wondering if this is 'normal' to feel after laproscopic surgery, or am I just in for the usual Crohns symptoms?

Thanks Nanners for the reply! I will be sure to give one of them a call. I was just wondering, how soon after your resection did you start to feel better (stomach/food wise) and when did the fatigue disipate?

Hi! I had laproscopy, so I really never had pain - mine was mostly discomfort from the gas...i was off the PCA pump by day 3 and havent taken anything since.

I slowly but surely started feeling better after both my resections. I had some D and pain due to the surgery (both my resections were the regular open surgeries, not lap) but not as bad as you are. It really doesn't sound right. I would definetly get ahold of either the surgeon or your GI. You should be feeling better by now Crohns wise at least.

I had a full abby incision so I'm not sure how this relates to you but I know I was miserable for quite a few weeks after my surgery. Could barely eat and alternated between C and D. Some of the bm's felt like I was about to give birth again. I had gas and cramping for months and months but I'm not sure if that is from my Crohns or from the surgery. I heard it can take up to a year to get over a surgery and I did seem to get better as each month past. It has now been a year and I haven't felt this good in probably 10-20 years. I still have fatique but nothing like before and still alternate between C and D but I pretty sure that is going to be my norm.
