Mt. SINAI and doctors there

I see Dr marion there and think he is great. They are very up to date, cutting edge. Overall I have done well under his care. His recommendations for treatment have been on target.  I will say they are in general opposed to steroid use, so if you like steroids this is not the group for you.  What I really like about him is he is always so encouraging, and he takes the time to listen.

Dr Present is one of his partners and he is, or has been, a biggie in the world of Crohns research.

I've been seeing Dr Peter Legnani at Mt Sinai and I like him very much. So far, he's been very helpful. Too bad my gut won't play along! So far, all my tests have looked pretty good, even though I am still having symptoms. For now, I am techinically undiagnosed, but I am still being treated as if I had mild Crohn's. That is, he has kept me on Pentasa, which does seem to help me some and he's also been giving me the antispasmotics which help with the cramping. meanwhile, the Rheumy I see there, Dr Peter Gorevic, has been scripting Humira to treat my AS, so I've got all my bases covered.

At my Rheumy's request, I went for a second opinion with Dr Maria Abreu last week. She's definitely one of the top GIs in the country, but I got a call from her office just before my appt and was told that she's leaving Mt Sinai in January. To be honest, although I liked her well enough and she is at the top of the heap, I was much more satisfied with Dr Legnani. When I see him, I see HIM. He takes the time to talk to me and answer all of my questions without leaving me feeling rushed. At my appt last week with Dr Abreu, I spent most of my time with a Fellow and very little time with her.

I hope that you can find a Doc who you are satisifed with.

I had the same experience with Dr. Abreu, met with a fellow and then she came in. I've also met with Dr. David Sachar who used to the the chairman of the department. He's expensive and doesn't take insurance, but it was worth every penny for the 2 hours he spent with me. I was told he donates some of his fee to charity. The surgeon who was recommended to me is Dr. Michael Harris, also at Mt. Sinai, and I would feel completely comfortable having him as a surgeon.

Hi there

I see Dr Present and he is very good.  I have been very ill and ultimately had surgery this past Friday. I feel great today though -- first time in 4 months.  We tried 6 MP, sterioids, and even Remicade but my intestine was a MESS.
