To many of you this will seem like a very small thing....you will think I am such a wussy.  But for me this is honestly a major milestone and achievement.

I gave myself two Humira injections tonight....up unil now my wife gave them to me...but I am out of town, so I had to do it myself.

This from a guy who has passed out during or after a blood test or shot ...more than once.  I get quesy watching ER on NBC.....  I passed out once when an employee showed me her cut finger.  When I was 6 or 7 it took four people to hold me down for a shot.  I can't stand the idea of a shot or sharp needles....

I don't ever think I could give myself a regular injection but because of the self injecting pen it was easy for me to do it....I put one shot in each thigh, it was the first time in that area...all of the others have been in the stomach.  The pain was only from the burn of the humira...If my wife is available I will still have her give me the shots...but for now, I know I can do it myself...and if I can, then anyone can.

Woohoo good job! TeeHee, I still am too scared to give myself a shot. Luckily my hubby is always around.

good job. i just learned yesterday and gave myself two syringes. I felt like such a big, brave girl!

I think that's great! I hate needles and am not sure I could self inject either. I'm goin to be a nurse too, but I've heard it's much easier using a needle on someone else, lol.

Not to hijack your post and take it in a different direction, but I noticed from your signature that you stopped the LDN. I haven't been on in awhile but I remember you being a big proponent of it, and everything I've read/heard seems like it is a great new treatment option. I showed some of the research to my GI when we were trying different treatments prior to surgery.

What happened if you don't mind?

side trips are okay...I stopped the LDN because I was not getting enough from it...I had some very real improvement, but I was still having issues with my bathroom trips (cut from 20 plus to about 5 on a good day...10 on a bad)  the real problem is that I continued to lose weight...so I made the decision to try the Humira....if this fails I will hopefully go back on trial with the Tysabri.

I encourage the use of LDN...I feel it has great potential for SOME people...just not me.

Way to go with the injection!!! I remember when I was little, they used to give vacinations in school and they had to chase me down the hall and drag me out of a bathroom stall I was soooo scared of getting the shot. Now, I can actually fill the syringe for my B12 shot. I still need my husband to do the actual plunge, but maybe someday. As you said, if you can do it....

This is ANOTHER reason I had avoided using Methotrexate back in the '90s. I could not stand the thought of giving myself injections! ( didn't know they had pills you could take).
If your a wuss so are a large percentage of the rest of us.

Hi and great you can give yourself the shots I guess when a person really needs to they can be there for themselves. How are you doing on the Hum. now? lol gail

I am not real impressed with the results...but things are better....just not as good as I thought they would be and certainly not as good as I think they should be.  I am giving it the first 90 days and then I will evaluate the results and decide to stop or continue...

congrats. I myself thought I couldnt do it but when I went in for the loading dose the nurse MADE me do 2 injections myslef to know that I could do them if that had to be, if no one else could give them to me I am a bit apprehensive knowing I have to do 2 on Friday.

I am so proud! I am SCARED to give them to myself - my doctor wants me to try it. I keep coming here are reading about how people are handling it and how it is working for them.
