Another alternative that on one talks about is a temporary ostomy. Divert the stool so the the rectum has time to heal and the fistula has time to heal.
I just had an appt. with my family doctor. Took in all my reports and she sat down with me for about
45 minutes discussing everything with me and she really feels I should go the temp ostomy route. She wants me to take this month and think about
it, or longer if I need to. I know she's not my Gastro, but she spent so much time with me going over everthing and explaining everything to me. She knows I have been fighting 1 abscess after another for the past 4 years and now this fistula and thinks it would make a world of difference.
My question now would be will it actually for sure close up if I did and it is it worth it to me right now. So, I guess I have some thinking to do.
Chroniemom, would love to hear your thoughts as you have dealt with these things for so long; would you do a temp colostomy or not????
