Remicaid during pregnancy

Hello.  I am 13 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child.  I was in the hospital for two days last week getting hydrated and put on 60 mg of prednisone to get my cd to calm down.  The scary thing is this time the prednisone has still not completely licked in after 5 days.  My GI said I should try Remicaid.  I am very nervous doing that along with prednisone during pregnancy.  Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?  Any advice?

I am so sorry to hear that you have to deal with this during your pregnancy. I have two sons and was in remission with both of mine. But shortly after I had my second baby I found myself in a HORRIBLE flare. Hopefully things will work out for you soon as far as the medicine goes, I would research all I can about both of them. Just to insure that neither one will harm you or your baby. They are wonderful and I wish you the best of luck with your new addition.

So sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time....what a worry this must be for you. Try to think positive, although I know how easy that is to say when you are not the one doing the suffering. I know that many of our members have had flares during pregnancy and I am sure they will be along to give you their support soon. Don't give up. Do you have any support at home with your other two children? How old are they? Is your husband and family supportive. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers .

Just wanted to let you know that there have been many women on this board who have giving birth to healthy babies while using Remicade. Just wanted to give you some peace of mind in that area.

I had been on remicade for 2 1/2 years before i got pregnant AND received the infusions throughout my entire pregnancy.  I had a great pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby in April.  I guess the ony difference between us is that I was in remission when i got pregnant.  i went to several specialists and remicade is safe for the the fetus...as they told me, "it is better to have a healthy mom vs. a sick mom."  hope it all works out for you!
