Long story short, I stopped getting my period - this happened last year (see below) and is happening again.
I have Crohn's colitis, diagnosed last year - up until that point it was diagnosed as colitis but my GI dr put me into the hospital when I got really sick (they said Crohn's at that point). I couldn't eat and could barely swallow from the pain and lost over 30 lbs, I was on Prednisone, 6mp, morphine, etc and it took me about 6 weeks to fully recover. I was on TriLevelin (the pill) before but stopped taking it when I couldn't keep any food down. I didn't get my period for about 3 months, and when I went back on the pill it started again. I also gained about 20 lbs back. (side note: also last year my hair started falling out too and my dermatologist said it was tellogen effluvium, basically from the trauma of being sick. It is growing back now)
I am currently getting over an flare-up, I stopped taking the 6mp and all my problems started again, so I am now back on 6mp, weaning off prednisone (currently 25 mg, down from 60 6 weeks ago), and just stopped cipro and flagyl. (I also take a multivitamin, calcium, folic acid & ambien to sleep).
This is my question: has this happened to anyone else? I lost about 15 lbs this time and am not sure if this is why my period stopped or the shock of what my body goes through with the Crohn's or from the prednisone or what. At this point I would rather not go back on the pill but don't want to just wait to see when my periods come back. There is no chance that I am pregnant, and my weight is about 115 (I am 5'1 so am thin right now but not Lindsay-Lohan-lollipop-stick).
Any thoughts?
