any new solutions to correct a blockage?

Last time i had a blockage was back in 92 and now i have reason to believe I'm dealing with it again. Last time I had the open surgery resection which the recovery wasn't much fun. Are there another options?

Hi I had a partical blockage last Xmas I was put on prednisone and that got me threw it and bowels moving also rested bowels with liquid soft for awhile. Hope you get better soon I was in the hos. for 10 days or so went in Xmas night and had lots of pain so hope you are not doing too bad if you are go to emerg. I also was put on IV and pain meds, also was given enenama.s and clean out I was told to drink or eat somethings that would get me moving, I did have testing done to find out what was going on and found out I had CD. I was glad I went to the hosp. Best Wishes and keep in touch. lol gail

I once had a tube inserted into my nose that had mercury on the end of it. As it worked it's way downward it slowly opened the blockage. This was back in 1990....It took about 2 days in the hospital, but it sure beat surgery. That would have been the next step had the nasal tube not worked.

You said you were on Remicade in a previous post, how long have you been on it? If they feel the Remicade can still work for you, they may give you steroids for a short time to get you through this. It also depends on how bad the narrowing is, if it's a partial or full blockage. You really need to go see your doctor or go to the ER, this could turn out to be pretty serious if not addressed, why not go and find out how serious, and get some fluids and pain meds at least.

I was able to prevent a partial blockage from becoming a total by going completely on clear liquids for a few days.  Although I still had to be hospitalized, the blockage cleared up with prednisone and antibiotics and I was able to go home after a few days.

I've been on remicade for about 3 years now, and I'm fairly sure it's only a partial blockage. does anyone know just how far through the system can those scopes actually go? I know the upper GI covers the whole tract, but isn't there an area the scopes can't reach?

just an update........
the gastro wanted me to take magnesium citrate and see how things are after that. I'll take the second dose when I get back home, but I do feel somewhat better after taking the first dose. It looks like I shouldn't have let myself get so over due for the scope.
