Okay I get it!

No more drinkies for me...    Fine...

Now I will never find mr right.   I guess I will settle for Mr. Right Now....

I will keep everybody posted on my new BORING life...

I found the straight Liquor was a lot harder on my system. I go with the mixed drinks and at a low dosage of alcohol than I used to drink. Hope you find Mr. Right soon...... :)

Hey Curly,

Perhaps you will find Mr. Right better without the alcohol onboard.  Sometimes they look better when you under the influence than when your straight.  At least if you not looking through rose color glasses you know exactly what you getting.  LOL.

As for boring life I have not drank since 79 and my life is anything but boring .........and I see very well .......lol

You will do great........just give it a lil more time ..........

Hey, you can still have fun with out alcohol. Just remember when you go out with your friends to bring the camera (makes for a fun next morning). I only drink once every 2-3 months but no beer just mixed drinks, there not as bad. I also prepare and take immodium before I go out. I know thats cheating but it helps the next morning.

Occassionally (like 2-3 times a year), I'll drink 1-2 glasses of wine.   I used to be able to drink anything (well, not really, but I did anyway), but that was decades ago.  Now I find that a mild, sweeter wine, in moderation, is the only thing I can tolerate.   Or a wine spritzer (a mix of wine and ginger ale)....but I also agree with everyone else that life is not the least bit boring without alcohol.....of course, I'm 49 and most people are over the whole alcohol thing by this age (Crohn's or not)....

I drink beer and it acutally helps me feel better. Everyday I have one or two beers with lime and I have to tell you its the best I feel all day...Any tummy discomfort goes away after I have a beer...I think its so strange....And Margaritas well they are like icing on the cake If I drink one or two of those I am really good....

Im taking 6mp and my Dr. gave me clearance and said I can drink my blood test are fine and alcohol does not affect my crohns....I have to say that my experience with alcohol supports his.

You have to be careful with alcohol in general, it can be hard on the colon so if you're experiancing crohns-colitis then I would avoid alcohol for the most part...beer=yeast, you're very lucky Doc that this hasn't caused you issues with your CD.

Bacterial over-growth exacerbates IBD symptoms and IBDers are prone to having bacterial over-growth.

It is nice to have a drink now and again I miss having say 1 drink at dinner on a holiday but with these pain meds I dont dare mix them. I have been lucky to nothave issues with alcohol with my CD.

I have been on pain meds for over a year now steadily since February on and off before that from the CD and a wisdom tooth pulled the saturday before thanksgiving 2006.

As for not drinking well that was me in college I could use the CD as a reason for when there was no driving to be done and when there was driving well I was designated driver all the time...let me tell you that made my friends happy plus they could warn me when they had to get sick and me being sober was able to pull over in a snap and not worry about anything as far as cops etc since I was okay :)

Alcohol (in some sort of moderation) does not affect me. I have Crohn's colitis and regularly drink red wine. I am not a beer drinker, so I can't say how I would react to that. I also, on occasion, have mixed drinks (vodka based only), those also are fine, so long as I don't overdo it.

You can still go out and have fun! Just find a beverage that agrees with you and enjoy. You can dance, play pool, laugh with your friends, and flirt with guys. You're friends will love you, because now you can be their new designated driver. And, won't it be great to not have that pesky hangover in the morning? Trust me, it's much better to meet Mr. Right without the beer goggles on! tongue

I get frustrated with the drinking thing too. I got diagnosed the summer after my senior year of high school. I missed my first year of college because of the Crohn's. A lot of my friends and my bf like to go out and drink, especially on weekends and Wednesday's wing night. Its tough doing out and not drinking anything. I try not to drink too much since it says right there on my medication (mercaptopurine) do not consume alcohol! But, I definitely do give in and drink sometimes....
