hello everyone,
i've got crohn's and am currently on remicade. it's worked very well, but during the last few months i've been experiencing lower right abdominal discomfort (which is nothing new) and constipation. it feels like i could go to the bathroom, but i often have trouble -- it feels like there is a blockage in my rectum, and it creates some pressure/discomfort.
a few years back i had a perianal abscess. the surgery went well, and the abscess was drained, leaving two fistulas right outside my heiney. the remicade has helped close the fistulas, and colonoscopies have shown my crohn's has activity in the perianal/rectal region.
now it feels like i'm growing a tail ( ) and the pressure is pretty uncomfortable.
- has anyone else experienced this?
- is there anything you'd recommend to help ease the bowel movements and reduce the rectal discomfort/blockage?
- could this discomfort be caused by too much sitting and/or straining to go to the bathroom?
- is this possibly a sign of a more serious problem?
i'd sincerely appreciate any thoughts or advice -- this is kind of a tricky topic for me to talk to people about.
happy and healthy holidays to all!
