Prednisone and Alcohol

I take ten milligrams of prednisone, and have for awhile. My question was if anyone knows of negative effects of alcohol with prednisone. My friend and I were going to go out, but she asked if there was any risks of mixing the two. I thought I'd see what you guys knew because I don't have time to get in touch with a doctor. Usually when I call the office you only get to talk to the receptionists unless you have an emergency. So if anyone knows, I'd appreciate it. Oh, and we aren't getting drunk, just one drink probably. We're just getting together to catch up on things for a bit, so it shouldn't be a high amount of alcohol. Thanks!

I would do it either! I personally do not drink @ all with my Crohn's as from what I know it is not a good idea. On any drugs we take, especially! Not worth it in my opinion. Good Luck- Britt

In contrast to my other prescriptions which have said to avoid alcohol, the as been no such admonition on my prednisone bottles. 

Hi I would stay away from alcohol while you are on pred.

I drink moderately/socially. My current and previous doctors are aware of my exact habits. Neither ever told me to stop except on Flagyl. Then you absolutely have to. Too much alcohol is never good for anyone. It's true that the meds add work for the liver, but in moderation, I've been told it's fine. If you are very concerned, then of course you should skip the drink. 

(I was unable to take Imuran, so I am not as familiar with alcohol interactions, though.)
