i don't understand how people can't spell this word right, considering they have the disease. It's not THAT hard to spell... we can't really take your advice seriously when you don't even know how to spell it! ahhh sorry something that pisses me off

Well...although I'm kinda anal about my own spelling I am totally aware that not everyone can necessarily help themselves so I don't take the time to comment on peoples spelling errors because I know that not everyone is a great speller no matter how hard they try and I know that some people have other things to worry about besides their spelling.

One thing I know for sure, just because someone has issues with spelling, doesn't mean their advice isn't worth reading and taking to heart.

hey lauren21, i can agree with you , but we must remember that not everyone has the same educational levels and abilities. i make tons of spelling errors even with spell check! yes it is frustrating to think that people cannot spell the name of their disease correctly. i am sure it makes it harder to look up info. now that it is out in the open, maybe we can let it go. respectfully, randy

Honestly, when Crohn's was first mentioned to me by my doctor I had no idea how to spell it, never had even heard of it, and I tried to google it under an incorrect spelling.  Sometimes if I am in a hurry, I will even type it incorrectly. 

While correct spelling is nice, I have known people who have not been able to spell very well at all, but their life experiences and points-of-view have been invaluable!

Well, I have to admit as a RN I still have to pause and think. My prob is I joke about the name of the disease. It sure is a CHRONIC one isn't it! Then I screw up my spelling. I also cannot spell schedule well and dauchunds even though I have 2 of them.
I also call it my "Groans Disease", since I groan and grimace alot. Makes life more bearable. Don't go too hard on folks. I had plenty of doctors ask me how to spell it too!

I had a gastroenterologist ask me how to spell Entocort. Best not to sweat the small stuff.

My son has dyslexia and is a terrible speller.  And has struggled very hard in his life just to read. Try to remember that some people are not being lazy about spelling , that sometimes it is a neurological disorder that they are suffering with.  Having Crohns Disease is something that you and I will stuffer with the rest of our lifves. Many people will stuggle with dyslexia their entire lives as well.  It also is something that they will not "outgrow".  So please try to be more understanding. Spell check is our best friend!!!!!

Well excuse me!lol i thought there were more important things in life regardless whether you have crohns or not ill try not to dwell on it to much it will just stress me out!lol

I have higher english even now i have problems lol your appostrophes,grammar,exclamation marks lol. yeah

Heck, I've typed Crohn's so often I often find myself typing crohnic when I know it is chronic. The ole fingers just get to flying .... typos don't count in my opinion, only if it is misspelled in handwriting. And even then I'm not going to criticize someone for it.

 You know its hard enough in life when we have to feel guilty for not being able to do alot of things with our family, friends because of this disease, but to come to a site that you look to find comfort in and find that you have to watch a simple thing like spelling its kind of sad, yes I understand you are talking about the word crohns itself, I've worked for doctors that weren't sure how to spell it....its bad enough how we feel without others making us feel worse..... sad

For years I struggled with that word. Would type/write it and it never looked right. Then my 14 year old daughter said "Mom, it's just like John." So now I hardly ever misspelled it. Out of the mouths of babes.

i agree with everyone else, and no one knows the emotional states of the people reading or typing these posts. While there are encouraging responders, stating that spelling doesnt matter, I think that it may make people feel wary about posting in the future due to feeling like they might b judged for being mis informed or imperfect. I think mayb it should be deleted, there is really no point to it. JMHO

I have always had trouble spelling diarrhea, mostly because I hate the word. BC (before Crohn's, that is) I couldn't even say it out loud. I still call it D most of the time. Anyway, I think it's a form of denial.
