Elevated Liver Enzymes

My liver enzymes are still elevated, 8 months after stopping 6MP. AST is 70, with normal being 10-35 and ALT is 112 with normal being 6-40! Yes, 40! I will admit, I'm overweight and concerned. How does one reduce these levels and still eat Crohn's happy food?

What is your doctor saying about this? While your levels aren't extremely high like one would see in acute hepatitis, being elevated for as long as they have been would seem to warrant further investigation. Have the done tests to rule out all other causes of elevated enzymes?

I am not aware of dietary measures that will specifically reduce liver enzyme levels. I know that alcohol is a no-no for anyone with liver problems as that can make it worse. Have they given you dietary guidelines and if so what are they? I'm curious...perhaps we can figure out what you can eat if you share the guidelines.

I would wonder about your other medications too, any meds for other conditions? A few of the drugs include BP meds, Antidepressants, Diabetes Meds and Quinidine. It depends on which drug you are on, so it would be drug specific.
