Urgh...I have to wear the boot 2 more weeks

Saw the doc today, hoping that since I hit the 6 week mark since breaking the fibula, I could get out of this boot cast. It's not healing. The piece of bone is just floating around. He could move it with his fingers. Had more xrays. He started talking surgery to remove the piece of bone. He wants the rheumy to ultrasound the ankle on Tuesday to see if he can see anything.

I am just so impatient....

Good news is that the toe has healed well since the surgery. I asked if he has to operate on the ankle, could he do it the same time as he does more surgery on the toe. Otherwise I can see having a bum leg/foot all spring! He said he might be able to do that...since I would have to have general anesthesia...

I am so impatient....

I honestly think I would want it all done like yesterday .........I am hoping they can look after the both at the same time so you wont be having a bum foot /Leg all thru Spring......

Ides, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this.I am happy that the toe healed.Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ides, IF they do surgery they definitely should do them at the same time. Having a piece of bone floating around is never a very pleasant thing, I imagine. The other thing impeding the healing is probably the fact that you must have done a number on the ligaments if you actually broke off a piece of bone. Ligaments take FOREVER to heal. Ugh, it just sounds so painful. But the neat thing about bones - they DO heal. They are very good at healing. It just takes a while. Be patient and do not take off that boot if your life depends on it, or unless you are taking it off to ice the area. Also, make sure you get into see a physical therapist in a couple of weeks so you can learn the right stretches to aid in the healing process, even if you only go for a couple of sessions. The PT will be very important!

Ides, I would have the surgery, I am also glad the toe is healed. My prayers are with you.
