Vibrations

When I had a percutaneous drain inserted in an abscess I remember developing a cramping clenching buzzing feeling in my pelvis. Docs didn't pay much attention to my discomfort so i brushed it aside. Two weeks later when a new drain was inserted I experienced the same sensation again. I think it was my bladder spasming. I continued to get these odd feelings for months afterwards. I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but it sure was weird.

The only other thing remotely like what you describe was a jumpy vibrating pain I felt post-surgery. This was underneath my sternum at the upper point of my incision. I awoke from surgery too soon while I was still on the table and laying in the midst of blood-soaked sheets. This vibration was excrutiatingly painful, though and I suspect it had something to do with nerve excitation. I hadn't received the post-surgical pain medication yet and I just think those pain sensors were on overload. That weird feeling persisted for months after the surgery, but was not accompanied by pain after the first incident.

I'm sure someone will come along who can explain what's going on with you, but, for sure mention it to your doc.

Balleenstein, it is kind of odd to me that this vibrating feeling has only occurred since I had the surgery last Feb when a cyst was removed from my lower right quadrant. The gi NP told me that it could have been a fistula and that it is not uncommon for them to not exit the skin. It was 5 cm long which she thought was very large. She didn't think there was a problem now that it was gone. However, I wonder what happens behind the closure? Does it back up? I sure hope I don't have an abscess. You would think it would have gotten much worse by now and be causing some pain (although the cyst took years to get to the size it was at the time of surgery)

This can't be my bladder, or else I've got some strange anatomy. Its too far to the right. Also, it only activates when I feel my bowel gurgling. In other words, when I first wake up I don't feel it. Then when I eat and things start up, it starts vibrating. I know I have some distorted anatomy due to adhesions but I doubt my bladder could be over there and also, I think that would cause some type of urinary urgency which I don't have. When I had a laparoscopy (before the crohn's diagnosis, although the gyn always thought I had crohns, unfortunately he died ) they found a loop of small bowel down in the right pelvis.

I will definitely mention it to my gi NP

This has been going on soooooooooo long. I'm praying for a major breakthrough, don't even care how bad it is. Last night I threw out years of blood pressure and diet records. I have told the story so often I think it is etched in my brain.

Interesting idea, Vicky. It does kind of feel like when you hit your funny bone but lasts longer. So it could very well be a nerve. If there is inflammation it could be irritating one of the nerves that run through there. Funny that in my case it is located right where I had the cyst removed from and with you, where you had your resection. I will definitely mention it when I go to the gi in March. (They told me it was up to me if I came in at 3 months, since I'm doing so well- HA)
