H Pylori

I was wondering how many of you deal with H Pylori on a regular basis and how often you get put on antibiotics for it? And what your symptoms are? I get "up high" pains followed by diarrhea when I have H Pylori.

Also, does anyone know if there is a "current" test for H Pylori? I know you can have a blood test once but if you test positive in that, it'll ALWAYS be positive. But is there another test that tells you if the H Pylori is CURRENTLY active in your system?

I was tested during an upper scope, through a biopsy, I guess.

Yup was jsut int he hospital for a week in january, severe pain in the abdomen and throwing up, scoped my stomach and biopsied inflamation there, turns out alot of h pylori, to bad it took them 2 weeks to get those test results back to me.....

I had blood work for it thet came back negative. Howeve, my gi did the upper scope and found I had it thru biopsy. He says if you have had it a yr it will not show up in lab work. Susie

Usually they use a prevpack for it.

I was found to have this during a scope and biopsy as well ....
I have only had it once but that was enough for me

Wow sure is along time before you got your tests results back ....2 weeks........ I had mine in a few days ........

My daughter suffers from pain in her chest....she's been put on ranitidine twice daily...but the doctor suspected h pylori so he sent her for a test.....she had nothing to eat or drink after midnight before the test and then, at a regular lab, was made to blow in a collection tube of sorts. 30 minutes later had to come back and do the same again. It's the first time I've heard or seen this test for h pylori. whe haven't received the results yet.
