Oh, Roni, I don't know if that's a good idea. Isn't the point of those enterally-coated tablets that the coating doesn't dissolve until it hits a certain point in your intestines?

Actually I called the company that makes Pentasa when my pharmacy could no longer provide the 250 mg tabs. I couldn't believe you couldn't get it canada, but sure enough, the communications person I dealt with said no. Since it says right on the label that the maintenance dose is 3 grams 4time a day I asked how it was possible to achieve that dose since it also says not to cut, crush or dissolve. It took two days, but she did call me back to say they can be broken, but not cut because in breaking them it doesn't disturb the beads. Anyway, it is even worse to swallow them broken because they are the same diameter but the ragged edge sticks. As for dissolving, it is when they dissolve, while stuck that it burns my throat. Roni, I do think it diminishes the effectiveness if you dissolve them, but hey sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
