Anyone with Crohn's concerned about having your baby immunized?

I'm worried about my having an autoimmunine disease (Crohn's) and having MS and ulcerative colitis in my family putting my baby at risk for autism if he receives his immunizations.  Does anyone wth Crohn's have any advice or experience with vaccinating their children?

I've vaccintated both my kids...where I live it was required to prove they were vaccinated as part of enroling them in school.

I brought up this same concern not too long ago. I had you same concerns for my grandaughter. As a public health nurse, part of me knows that it is best to have babies immunized. If everyone decided not to immunize, all those dreadful diseases such as polio etc etc, would rear their ugly heads again. My grandaughter just received her first shots here in B.C. She received 4 injections...boy , that seems like a lot....back in my day as a phn, they were given the one combined shot for diphteria, tetanus, polio and pertussis(whoopingcough). Now I know that here in Victoria we have recently had a infant mortality with pertussis in a baby that wasn't immunized. In this province , it is left up to the parent'sdiscretion as to immunize or not. ....in Ontario, where I was nursing...it was mandatory.
I think that in the end, immunizing is best .....one parent i've spoken to lately has decided to immunize but has decided to put it off a few months, and just be really carefull not to expose the baby to undue exposure to bacteria/viruses....no taking public buses, no trips to the grocery store, coffee shops, malls etc....until he's had his firt shots.

I have opted out of several vaccines for my kids. They attend public high school here in the U.S. Nearly every state has some kind of exemption offered now. We have both religious and philosophical offered in our state.

If I were having a child now, I would vaccinate on a shot by shot basis (research each one, weigh the risks/beneits). (I am not against vaccines, I just feel we've gone "over the top" with what is mandated.) If you google the words "alternative vaccine schedule" you can find some interesting information. There are doctors out there who advocate waiting until the child is two years of age because, among other reasons, the meylin (protective sheathing on nerve endings at the base of the brain) is completely formed then. jmho...

Also, I believe there are established forums out there like this one, but dedicated to vaccines, where you can post a similar question and get feedback. Just a thought.

There are many books available on this topic, too.

It's tough to find a balance. You can scare the daylights out of yourself researching this stuff--and the anti-vaccine info can also be "over the top", imo. Also, it's tough to find really, truly unbiased information. In the end, just remember this is YOUR decision and no one else's.

I work with people with Autism and am quite familiar with the current research. I would have my children vacinated. In fact when my mother tried to talk my sister out of having her now three year old (and a now three month old) vacinated I convinced both of them to go ahead and have the immunizations.
