i am going to be starting humira for the uc study.  does anybody know if once it's stopped,can you start it again or is is like remicade and you can't start it again.  also, what side effects do you see?

I've been on Humira since April 2007 - no side effects here other than an itchy welt where I inject it but applying Benedryl cream clears it up in a day or so. I think it's like Remicade in that if you stop it for a long period of time, you can't start it again, but I'm not certain on that.

To answer your question yes it can be stoped and then started again.I started Humira in October of 2006 and because of a severe infection I was taken off of it and was off for about seven months and then started it back in Janurary of this year.The only side-effect(if you want to call it that)is it stings a little going in and it does get red around the injection site but only last a few secounds.

I just started Humira (only the first 4 pens of the starter pack down). I found that it does sting going in but if you ice the crap out of the site and pinch fairly hard you don’t feel the needle at all. I’m not sure there is any other way to avoid the medicine itself stinging as it goes in other than to make sure it’s room temperature and just plain getting used to it. Good Luck!
