High dose of Entocort.

I have Ulcerative Colitis, so I hope no one minds that I'm posting here. Seems that people with Crohn's are given Entocort more than people with UC.

I'm looking for anyone that is or has been on a high dose of Entocort (more than 3 pills;9mg).
What were your side effects for a large dose?
How was your taper? Any problems coming off?

I've been on 27mg since February. Side effects included: acne, moonface, leg cramps in mornings, even more easily bruised
I'm currently tapering. I went down to 21mg last week. And I'm now starting 15mg.
I've noticed a lot of headaches. Leg cramps are now moving to other parts of my body. I'm SO sore. Everywhere. Also, as of a couple of days ago my teeth seem to be realllly sensitive. I've had no problems before.

I'd like to know if anyone else has experiences.

Asia - that is such a high dose!  I've been on Entocort on and off during the last 3 years, but never more than 9 mg/day.  What did your doctor tell you about the high dosage?  I read the package insert when I first took Entocort and didn't recall any mention of a dose higher than 9 mg.  Have you checked your blood pressure?  I was hypertensive on 3 mg/day.

Yeah Asia that doesn't sound right to me either. The packaging and my doc told me the max dose was 9 mg. too. At 9 mg I had little to no side effects. I liked it more than Pred thats for sure.

I'm getting the impression that the high dose is odd, I can only find people on a max dose of 9mg.
I was on 6mg for a year and a half. After a recent colonoscopy I started to really flare--so that's why he upped it.
I wasn't supposed to be on the high dose for long, but he was MIA and so was my GP. I was left with no tapering instructions so I had to wait a month and a half for my appointment.

I had to many problems on prednisone which is why I use Entocort. And I agree, I LOVE Entocort. On 6mg, I have no side effects at all.

I haven't checked my blood pressure since starting the high dose. What is hypertensive?

The following from the manufacturer provides detailed info about Entocort. It says that a clinical trial did not show any benefit in increasing from 9 mg to 15 mg, so it seems unlikely that 27 mg would be any better than 9 mg.

According to one article I read, 3 mg Entocort is strong, like 15 mg of prednisone, but the dose is targeted where you need it so it causes fewer side effects than pred.
