Immodium Users

For those who take Immodium, what is your regiment. I usually take it after each loose bowel movement. Is their anyone who takes it at certain times during the day? So far it has been the only way I can exercise some form of control over my D.

Hi! I have taken 2 imodium every morning for years. My GI told me that you have to be careful not to take to many/day because it does slow down the contractions in the bowel. I have also noticed that if I take more then 2/day I have gas. Hope this helps. I have had crohns for 27 years.

I take the over the counter generic stuff. The directions say to take 2 after the 1st loose bowel movement and than one following each loose bowel movement, but not to exceed 4 in a day. I assume the directions are not intended for those with IBD.

I always carry them with me especially when I travel, If I have a feeling I take one to stop what could be a disaster and if you can believe it my GI wouldnt give me any lomotil because it could be addicting (ha ha I thought for gods sake your a GI DR and im only asking for 10 pills)But my Reg D.r who is my rock gave me some lol!!
