I had several abscesses around my anus. One got large enough that I had to have it lanced, two others required drains. The way that these abscesses were explained to me is this: the puss is a build up of infection. That infection is more than likely caused by a tiny tunnel in my colon that allows the bacteria from my colon to escape into parts of my body that it shouldn't be in. So basically, there might be a hole that leads from your colon, to the outside of your skin ( I think some people get these on their abdomens from their small intestines too). I wouldn't be surprised if your doctor wanted to switch your meds immediately to address this situation.
