Flare or Infection?

Hi All

I've been on Entocort and Imuran for just over a month now and at first i was doing great and felt fantastic. BMs were kinda somewhere near normal. But during the 3rd week i had what felt like a really really bad tummy bug that lasted for days. then it cleared up and a few days after i had it again. I cannot figure out if it's just a flare or if it's a bacterial infection or something along those lines. Anybody had anything similar? Is it simply just a flare? And is there anything that might be causing it that i'm not aware of. I adhere to a pretty strict diet with minimal processed food, no soda, no bread etc...It's just so soul destroying when you think your meds are working and WHAM, all of a sudden it's back to usual.

Definitely could be a bacterial infection. I've been given several antibiotics over the years for "small bowel bacterial buildup". In fact, I have that same pain now so I'm questioning if the bacteria overload is back...waiting for a call back from my GI...

Well i was with my doctor the other day and he said they would need to do a test to find out and that i should wait until i see my GI again and speak to him. Which could be another month or 2. And yes i am still having the same problem. I'm fine for a few days and suddenly it's like a trigger goes off in my tummy and the tummy bug symptoms just start and can last for days, sometimes a week. I know it's not diet related. And i'm not sure it's anything to do with the Imuran, i don't seem to have any side affects at all. everything is fine until my insides decide to go haywire!! What tests need to be done to determine bacterial infection? And what antibiotics are safe to take for a Crohnie??
