well it isnt hemmies or anal skin tags...

Okay doing this by my cell so please forgive typos it has already deleted this post on me 4 times when I clicked space... I saw my colorectal surgeon today as a f/u. He was the 1 who Dx the thrombosed hemmies before and I thought that was the issue. I them noticed the area that was swollen was skin colored...I have a fissure. I have had superficial fissures before when i put betaval ointment on the superficial ones they were gone by the next day. Mine is an anterior fissure which he feels is not crohn's related since the anterior and posterior positions are the "normal" areas for regular people to get them. I told him that last week during my period the area was more swollen and more uncomfortable. the area for those wondering what an anterior fissure is it isas if I draw a strait line from my vagina back to my anus. (a posterior fissure would be located directly across from the anterior.) It does have the swelling around it which some websites do refer to them as skin tags there was another way the swollen area was called but i forget.I have to go to a special compounding pharmacy for the Rx ointment. It is called Diltiazem ointment 2%. It says it can take up to 3 weeks to work, I will get it tomorrow and I have to use it 3 times a day. For those who have had fissures does the swelling all go away once the fissure heals? thanks stef

It is a script med that you have to get at a special compounding pharmacy. In the office they had instructions printed out on how to apply it to make sure u get as much of the fissure as you can. you use a pea sized amount each application and you place your finger as close to the anus as possible where you feel if you move your finger anymore it will slip inside (you dont want it inside) then you apply. I was given the name of the onlt pharmacy in RI that makes it and got the name of another place in southeastern MA. I noticed when I just went to urinate that with my doc's exam it opened to the vaginal area talk about burn. I do get superficial fissures in the vulva area at times and those superficial ones the beta val usuallhealed it by the next day. I hope the newly opened area does heal with the betaval. I just get tiny pinhead sized blood from the superficial fissures in the past. My nana was given nitroglycerine when she was in a nursing home for fissures. I read about that as a Tx since it helps bloodflow which aids healing. I will let you all know of my results with the new med I get tomorrow and how well it works

I am not sure what you are describing because I haven't had a fissure. Is yours an actual rip in the skin?? From your description, it sounds like the area is just swollen. Could you please describe it more for me?

I am wondering of you are on anibiotics. When I first got my peri-rectal fistula, the perineum (the area between the vagina and rectum) swelled so much it was stiff -- like a hard ridge. Very ouchy to the touch! The fistula emptied out in the perineum and it was infected, so the skin became infected too -- massive cellulitiis tissue infection. It took about 3 months on Flagyl and Levaquin to calm it down, but it didn't stop getting infected until I got the seton placed (so the pus could drain out). I share this because is am concerned you may have infected tissue!

Hi Crohn'snme. I really haven't heard of this before and am trying to learn more. Is the "bulge" an abscess??
