Well yet again here I lay in bed wide awake. I have been having thisa issue since i fiinally stopped the fentnyl. I got into bed fell asleep with a movie on (I always fall asleep with it on with a few occasions where i turn it off instead of the.timer. I fell asleep around 930 only to wake up at 1130. If I was a lot younger I would blame it on the fact that Sunday is my b-day. Last night I awoke from the same I think tonight...joint pain. I put the lidoderm patch on and the aching is gone but I also am having abd pain...garn gas doesnt want to move. I used 3 gasx & have the heating pad onn...and my 3 month old kitten is laying onthat. he is funny when my belly rumbles he sometimes pounces on it...glad he is only 3.2 lbs! he also attacks you when you fart...he did that more so a cpl wweeks ago.

Yeah ever since I got off of the fentanyl this time around. I really dont want to refill my ambien since my insurance doesnt cover the name brand or generic of it and 20 pills are $40. I took tylenol PM, Benadryl, my muscle relaxers, dilaudid, and my elavil you think at 90 pounds I would be sleeping till noon but yay 2 hours ><
I had to euthanize one of my cats back in November she stopped eating from me being in the hospital and then us moving she ended up causing hepatic liver disease. Cats will refuse food even if hungry she went downhill sofast and she was 6 my other 6 yr old cat was always playful and got lazy when he was the only1. I got the kitten toward the end of march, I wanted to be healed from surgery knowing I would have a pouncing kitty on me. My older cat took about
4 days to get use to him but then I had to take him to the vet since he may have kennel cough or another form of URI and my other cat didnt catch it. Being a vet assist for those cpl years I can typically notice things and monitor them and know when I need to bring them to the vet. I was gone for less than 2 hours with the kitten on Thursday and my older cat began hissing at him again and still is. The kitten plays fetch with a green feather toy, my other cat turns lights on and off, turns the a/c on he has flushed the toilet before, he can
open doors that are accordian style, he can even get into drawers and cabinets with child safety locks on them.

sorry about
your sleep problems. Did you ever try Tylenol PM. Works pretty well, and it's safe and not habit forming.

Hi dragonfly, Just wanted to say that I'm glad you got to get a new kitty. (I have way too many and one is trying to adopt me now, hanging out on my porch)... But the cats and my new bunny watch after me. I swear the cats are always worried when I am sick. One cat follows me everytime I go into the bathroom and cries non-stop! I think she knows... But, the kitten attacking your belly is cute! Hope it doesn't hurt!
Oh! My new bunny *loves* my heating pad! She licks it like mad!

Here is a list of my normal nightly med routine I have to take all my meds at bedtime since post op all meds I take early in the day with or without food makes me vomit and I tried to rotate to find the culprit...no luck so my GI agrees with what I am doing as far as times I take my meds
Tylenol PM (2 pills)
Benadryl (2 pills)
Singulair 10mg
Neurontin 300mg
Amytriptaline 25mg
Zanaflex (generic is tizanadine) 8mg...its a muscle relaxer well 2 of them total the 8mg
Dilauded as needed but since pain meds typically make me hyper I try as hard as I can to avoid this at bedtime
Asmanex inhaler
Zinc 100mg
Vitamin B6
Vitamin A
Prenatal Vitamin
I give myslef the Humira weekly on Wednesday and I am due for my B12 on Tuesday (15th of each month)
Tonight I am making darn sure I sleep....2 mikes lemonades and on 2 hours sleep if I dont sleep tonight I wont be much of a fun birthday gal tomorrow
I have another refil on ambien but my darn insurance doesnt cover it or generic form of it so its $40 for 20 pills and I used my last one the week before my last Sx in January and I had it filled in Sept. Just had to get the fissure med filled maybe thats doing it but I started that ointment 3 times a day on Thursday it has nitroglycerin in it and says can lower blood pressure and I already have a low BP. The label also said can cause drowsyness...they dont take insurance either and they are the only place in RI that compounds that med besides hospitals. was $45 for that one and I cant even submit to my insurance since they are not on their list grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Dragonfly, do you mind if I ask why you take muscle relaxers? Do they help with Crohn's/UC symptoms?

Dragonfly,
I was thinking...there is a chance that some of your meds are actually having the reverse effect than they should be. For instance, some people actually become hyper when they take diphenhydramine, and that is the active ingredient in both your Benadryl and your Tylenol PM. If you are one of those people that actually feels the opposite effect from the med, this could be significantly contributing to your problem (especially since you said that pain meds makes you hyper). I also get concerned when I see that you are taking so much diphenhydramine all at once...it could be that a lower dose might actually be more helpful for you. Does your doc know you're taking both of these, on top of everything else?

Sarita, you could be on to something, I am sometimes one of those opposite people and stay awake when I should be sleeping... Karen

I have taken both more and less of those containing benadryl and yes my docs know how much I take of it. My allergies are really bad too even on zyrtec etc I always had to dose up with benadryl. I take the singulair now at night for asthma but it is also for allergies but it still helps them and I spend most spring all congested and sneezing yay pollen ugh.
I do not have the hyper effects from benadryl and the like also some pain meds like morphone and oxycontin (when used in the past made me sleepy) it seems codeine vicodin, dilaudid, percoset make me hyper. My mom remembers the 1st time I needed cold syrup with codeine and recalls buckling me in my carseet then looking back and seeing me hanging out the window....I am 29 now so the whole narcotic thing has been a life long thing. I have always used benadryl for sleep issues even as a child when needed. I use to take trazadone but I forget why but my doc took me off of it after a while shoot I took that and within 30 mins I was out cold.
When I started the zanaflex 1/4 of 1 pill knocked me out if I took 1 or 2 pills whole at bed I hallucinated but no more. I think my body got use to the benadryl and the effects of the muscle relaxers.
