Hi I'm new;

Just wondering if anyone has had the surgery lately. Read some old comments but technology is evolving sooo much, not sure what to beleive. MY crohns is under control. The odd flare up, with some inflamtion  (chest).

My sister had the surgery three years ago-very brief recovery time-no problems after that.

I would warn you however that a lot of people with inflamitory diseases are not canidates for elective eye surgeries. We are more prone to infection, we get inflamitory eye diseases that can be complicated by scar tissue, etc. I would talk to a good opthamologist (not someone at one of those eye centers where they do a million of those surgeries a day) and talk about possible complications now and later, wether your medications would complicate the surgery and all of that stuff before I even looked for a surgeon.

Hi I just had lasik done in October of last yr. I am on Remicade 1200mg and do still flare. I talked to my GI and my PCP and the Eye Dr before I did mine. They all said that it was safe for me to do. You take a chance with anything that you do. I have 20/15 vision in both eyes with the occasional dry eye 1st thing in the morning but I tell you I love it. Its one of the best things that I have done. Every now and then I forget that I am not wearing contacts. LOL

Thanks, it helps alot...don't think I'll get it done. I'm a chicken....LOL Id rather wear my glases (bifoculs) than have all sorts of complications, cause I've already had a couple of eye flare ups which makes me think my eyes are probably very sensitve.
