I was having horrible pains and a noisy stomach.  Turns out Imuran wasn't controlling inflamation.  Figured that out after Colonoscopy 2 weeks ago.  My GI suggested Remicade and if that doesn't help calm the inflamation, then it's a resection.  Had my first Remicade infusion last Tuesday.  Was a little discouraged over the weekend because I was continuing to have horrible pains.  Then Wednesday I had a great day.  No pain, no noise, increased energy.  I thought "ok, just a good day".  Well I'm at day number three of feeling great!  I know, only 3 days, but it so nice to feel well!  I'll have my next infusion on Tuesday (22nd).  I'm very hopeful! 

I'm new to this site and have been so relieved to see that people are so caring.  I can relate to things that you all are going through.  So nice to know I'm not alone with this horrible diesease!

Are you still taking the Imuran with the Remicade infusions? I take both to keep things in line.

I am still taking Imuran and Pentasa.   My GI said after we get the first few infusions going we would talk about these meds.  I know there are lots of discussions about taking Imuran along with Remicade.  They are worried about suppressing the immune system too much.  I do think they are doing studies, but since Remicade for Crohn's is still pretty new the results won't be out for quite sometime. 

Sounds like you are doing well on Remicade?  How long before you felt the affects of it?

Hi JenLS. so glad to hear you are doing good with the Remicade. I love it. I feel so much better after the infusions. I premedicate with Benadryl and Tylenol. Continued success with Remicade. Take Care

My doc told to student docs on my last visit that I was a Poster Girl for Remicade. I have been on it for over 7 years. I went a while without the Imuran, and I went a while at 50mg, I am now at 100mg and have had my Cade doubled permantly. But I am doing well and have learned how to read my body. I know that I still have things I cannot eat, and I listen when I should rest. I know I will never be as I was before, but part of that is age. Things change as we grow older as well as our body handling our meds differently as we get used to them.

I've wondered about foods.  I've wondered if the lactose intolerance will go away?  I agree with you about listening to your body.  It's taken awhile (I was diagnosed almost 5 years ago) but I've learned to listen to my body.  It's slso been nice to have a wonderful husband who helps me out tremedously when I'm not my full self.
