Insurance and Crohn's Testing...

I was wondering if most everyones insurance has allowed for "duplicate" tests? I have noticed that some of us on here have had the same tests done more than once, fairly close together and I wondered if you had a hard time getting the insurance to cover it?

The reason I ask is because my Internist wants me to get a second opinion and I wonder if my insurance will be willing to cover another set of scopes, etc., if the second GI wants to do them himself.

I had that problem when I had an accident a couple of years ago. They took me in the ambulance to one hospital and did all these tests and then put me in a helicopter to go to another (better!) hospital where they did several of the same tests again that night!! The insurance wouldn't cover the second tests. I was so mad and refused to pay (I wasn't conscience, I didn't ask for the tests, haha!) I think in the end they paid.

The best thing to do probably would be to just call your insurance company and explain the situation - they would probably be able to check and see if it will be covered. Best of luck!
