Have you ever felt cheated?

I feel like I have been... I think the probiotic I bought is the wrong one... Just this probiotic, in particular... I don't know about the rest... but...

Some of them look like they're legitimate and have been backed by scientific study and such... That's the kind of probiotic I should be taking to see if it makes me feel better...

But this Primal Defense stuff... doesn't look like it'd be very good at all... It has no actual peer-reviewed scientific study backing it up... None. Any study Mr. Rubin seems to have cited does not contain sound research...

There is even no actual research on the safety of the soil in those little capsules... Which, I think, is very worrisome...

Oh... and did you know that Mr. Rubin isn't even a real doctor? All of his credentials come from non-accredited schools...

That's what really burns me up... I'm glad the FDA is giving him trouble... and if I can't get the $50 I spent on Primal Defense back, I'll give him trouble, too...

I just thought I'd let you guys know what I found out, so you could be better informed... and go out and find a probiotic that's actually been scientifically proven to help people.

*Again, I really feel cheated... I haven't felt this cheated since I read Mr. Trudeau's book... I hate these slimeballs...* I thought since Mr. Rubin himself suffered from our illness that he wouldn't do something like that... but...

There's jerks everywhere...

that's why i avoid all those holistic treatments.....anyone who is a truly outspoken proponent of any particular product, usually has a financial interest in the product they are raving about!

so, I may miss out on some potential remedies, but I don't ever feel cheated.

Yeah... I will definitely try another probiotic (with plenty of research behind it, for sure)... but because I spent $50 on that useless one... It'll be a while before I can afford it... *It's why I feel so cheated... could've used my money on something that actually works*


Of course, I suppose I could always not buy food... I feel so awful... But... I'm not going to do that...

I also tried the Garden of Wonders line and never noticed any difference. I did notice a slight difference with VSL#3. I think that is worth the $$ if you can spend it. I am not good about taking it, but I did order a second time, so I guess I believed enough to spend the money a second time around!

And, I agree that Patient Heal Thyself does sell a lot. But, like hana24 said, I am glad it's helped others! We all respond differently to all these drugs, diets, etc. And, at least you know you've tried it so you can always say you didn't leave that stone unturned. Maybe that will help with the cheated feel. You bought yourself knowledge...

I guess every time you try something...even the pricey meds prescribed by the GI's you run the risk of it not working for you. I didn't find VSL# 3 helpful, but it has helped others...I think a lot is trial and error.

I know what you mean Celey. I bought on line one tub of Absorb Plus, an elemental diet that was highly recommended to me by someone I met at a CCFA seminar. It cost $50 and $13 in shipping. I thought it would be a good protein and nutrient boost post-op. I need to put some weight on my bones. I whipped it up in the blender with bottled water, added some Udu's flax oil ($11.00), poured it over ice, took a sip and almost vomited. I was gagging as I was washing out the blender. I'm sticking with Ensure and Boost. That stuff was vile. Blech!! I'm not saying it's not a good product and I was taken... I just can't drink it and am now out $74.
