upper GI--10 years since

After dealing with Crohn's for 23 years, I know this sounds silly. . . but I am traumatized by the fact that I have to do an upper GI/small bowl follow through on Friday. Haven't done one in 10 years. When I was a kid, I had a ton of them and always gagged or choked--even threw it up. I'm having nightmares. B/c of the drink, I've never been able to drink out of a big straw or drink anything strawberry and creamy.

Anyone out there who can tell me if the barium drink has improved/changed at all?

My crohn's is going nuts. Gotta do the upper GI and colonscopy fast to get on the humira. Sad b/c my body turned against the 6mp in November and the disease is back with a vengeance after 6 pretty good years.

sammies, I am right there nervous with you, I have an Upper GI on Sat May17th and I am freaking out. I am not able to drink thick drinks well and I am so worried I will puke. I absolutely hate to throw up!! I am getting my upper Gi to help determine if I need surgery for my Hiatal hernia and to also look at my upper gi system. I still have inflammation according to my tests and I think my GI wants to know why. Humira might be my next step too. CrohnieToo , they have pineapple flavor? that sounds better than strawberry to me. anyone know what other flavors they might have? I am not too fond of strawberry. we will get through this sammies!! My 7 yr. old had one done in March and she had no problem drinking it down.
