I agree with Melissa. I think yeast/fungus is under-rated with our diseases. In fact, some with IBD (UC or CD) have noticed their symptoms improve, sometimes dramatically after starting some sort of anti-fungal diet. Even taking probiotics, which help squeeze out the overgrown yeast have helped some. One dose of antibiotics, even back when you were a child, can begin the whole yeast/fungus overgrowth problem. Speaking from experience, I am now symptom free after 8 years of UC after following a strict antifungal diet and now maintaining a low (trying for no!) sugar, low-grain and reduced processed food diet. Another website to check about
fungus/yeast is
www.knowthecause.com and look under FAQ or read the articles about
fungus, as well as a phase one antifungal diet. Fungus can twist and alter the strands of DNA in our nucleus, and I think that is where the heredity issue can come into play with our diseases, if our diseases are determined to have a genetic cause.
