Naproxon/Ibuprofen & Crohn's

They can be a problem and most people with chron's can't take any of the NSAIDS. There may be other things you can take or maybe you can use the salonpass or an arthritis creme before or after dancing. They can help you joints without the gut problems-do be sure not to use more than package directions though because the medicine in these rubs does get into the blood stream.

I haven't had a problem with either of these medications. I can't take Tylenol so those are pretty much my only options.

I guess use them at your own risk but don't be surprised if your GI doctor isn't happy about it.

The advice about arthritis creams is a good one.

I have osteoarthritis in one knee, and I've been to several rheumatologists and orthopedists. When they find out that I have Crohn's, they all reiterate that I must never take aspirin or Ibuprofen, because both drugs have been documented as causing additional damage to the digestive tract of people with CD. When I've asked them what I can use to treat arthritis pain, they basically tell me that I'm totally out of luck--I can use Tylenol for the pain, but I can't take anything that will deal with the inflammation.

When my arthritis acts up, I tough it out--or give up and take a hydrocodone for relief.
