I received an award letter today regarding SSDI. I'm a little confused, cuz in the letter it states that the "nonmedical" part has not been decided yet & is forthcoming. Does anyone know what that means?
I wanted to let you all know the SSDI is possible. It has only been 1 1/2 years of trying & I do have a lawyer that was suggested by my Long Term Disability Insurance Company. I was at the hearing stage, however, my lawyer petitioned a motion to see a Judge prior to a hearing. My case was presented & the Judge approved asap without it going to a hearing. My advice to everyone thinking of applying...please remember intrigrity is the most important factor along with persitence. I am fortunately to have had Long TErm Dis. which actually I may owe SSDI cuz my LTD benefits are much more than SSDI. However, I feel benefits of the SSDI outway the LTD. After 2 years of LTD they will evaluate "any job", which means I may have lost my benefits. Also, to continue receiving LTD benefits, SSDI must be actively pursued.
Anyway, on one hand is a a great victory, on the other, I'm labeled DISABLED. Being 45 is kind of a reality how ill I really am. I'm awaiting to find out if I will be having cervical neck fusion, which is one more thing to deal with. I pray it will take the physical & mental pain away. I used to be such a positive person, & now with being knocked down so much I don't know who to think positive. I see a therapist weekly, have great coping techs, read lots of self help books & of course read everynight this web sit. How do we get out of the emotional rollercoaster when our body doesn't cooperate with simple every day living. If any one has questions regarding the process of my SSDI, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. Just put in the subject line SSDI/Healing well. God Bless.
