Another question.  For the last three months I have been running low grade fevers.  Anywhere between 98.8 and 99.8.  I keep saying I'll call the doctor whenever it gets above 100.  Never does.  I'll have them for about 3 weeks and then they will disappear for about a week. 

Should I call the doctor or hold off?

It's probably good to let your doctor know. I frequently run low-grade fevers too. 99.5 and up is my usual. I've been above 100 three times this week. My doctor never really seem to care, but I tell him anyway as it seems an important reflection of my disease. One time he told me to call if I get above 101!

The fevers kill me... it's so hard to function with a raised temp! Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Vicky,

I'm concerned you may have an infection somewhere. I had a large abscess for too long (I tried ignoring it -- stupid me) and I ran a low-grade fever. Then the whole situation spiraled out of control. But that is another story... I suggest you call your Doc. Better safe than sorry! Hope you feel better!!

I am currently healing from a flare and have had low grade fevers.  For a while they were getting high at night, up to 102.7.  I got out of the hospital after having an abcess drained and the fevers started at night, usually around bedtime - I would take Tylenol and end up with night sweats as the fever broke.

This is the first severe flare I have had (I had 2 others) where I wasn't given prednisone so didn't heal as quickly, so am learning a lot about my body.  I am now on Remicade, hoping that works for me since nothing else except pred seems to work.

FallColors, how did you know you had an abcess?  I had one recently I needed to have drained but didn't know it was there.  How can you tell?

I've had three peri-rectal abscesses and all were easy to tell. Lumps were there should be none and tender to the touch. I let the first one way too long -- I didn't know I had CD at the time -- and suddenly I got drainage in the perineum from the newly formed fistula. :-( For all three I started to run low temperatures and just felt generally un-well. I got the last one 3 weeks ago and acted fast. Now I know better!! I was in the OR within 4 days and caught it early! Yea! It was small and not in very deep at all, so I didn't need much of an incision.

I never get a high fever becaue my normal temp is below the norm so it is hard when I go to a doctor that doesn't know me. I have been told that mine is low due to having immuno disorders. So if I was you I would tell your doctor when you see him/her.

I like Shoshanna also run a low temp all the time. When I hit 98.6 which is the normal body temp, I consider myself with a low grade fever. If its 99 and up then I know something is really wrong.

Just an FYI, I had been running low grade fevers for a few weeks (ranging from 99 to about 101/102) and kept putting off letting my doctors know because it would seem to go away the next day. Anyways, it finally caught up to me and turns out I had a nasty GI infection that basically caused me to have some sort of nasty abscess rupture and spew out some more nasty gunk. You should let your doctor know-it might be your body's way of trying to tell you something is up.

I run fevers almost all the time, 100, but usually no higher. But I know I'm flaring, so I put it down to the nature of the beast...

I always run low grade fevers as well.... it usually means a flare, or it is a reflection of the chronic sinusitis that never seems to go away... It's like my CD, just variations of severity.
what I have been having more of lately as well is hot flashes.! Gee Whiz!....lots of fun. !There is just no rest for the weary!
