So I have been getting Remicade infusions every 8 weeks for almost five years. It has worked wonders! I feel great and have had no reactions or side effects. I am just wondering how long everyone has been able to tolerate the drug for. I keep hearing stories about
becoming immune and having reactions. So I guess I am wondering how long everyone has taken it and what happend to make you stop if you did. Just had a treatment yesterday and am feeling like a million bucks, but keep wondering if the next one may be the last.

I took it for 5 years. It slowly started to change the last 6 months of the last year. I recently changed about
8 weeks ago. On Humira. Remicade hadn't been working and by the time I figured it out I was pretty sick. I kind of started having face flushing, feeling a little strange during infusions. Had I been more privy to the signs I would have realized what was going on. I always wanted to hope for the best, but sometimes seeing realty is more important. I don't miss the Methotrexate injections I took with it.

i forget the exact date, but before 2000. probably 8 years or so. i started soon after it came on the market, when they thought you could only get it once and before you could get double doses and they discovered they could use it as a bi-monthly maintenance. i stopped in december 2006. started to build up antibodies to it and felt well enough to where i didnt need it anymore. havent taken it since.
i believe, from my experience, that it just masked the symptoms. i felt better soon after an infusion. it was great. but i developed a fistula while taking it (which the medicine is supposed to prevent and heal) and my colon just rotted out on me. i got worse but i felt better. hence my thoughts of it just masking the symptoms. but that is my experience. and from it i'd suggest to every one to still get regular colonoscopies even if you feel great.
