I am on Remicade, 6mp, Nexium, and Asacol. I have had 3 Remicade transfusions. I found out this past Friday that my liver enzymes are elevated. The doctor said I need to go for another blood test in two weeks to see if the number goes up or down. has anyone experienced this?

Have you been taking the 6-MP for a long time? I had that problem with the 6-MP, but so far have not had any problems with remicade on its own. I had to stop the 6-MP as it immuno-depressed me and gave me hepatitis. This all happened very quickly. My first blood works were good, and then I became very sick and they found all my blood readings were way out of wack. If you start to feel very flu-like or develop a high fever, call your doctor right away. Hopefully in your case your liver enzyme readings will return to normal and no adverse problems will occur.

Yes, I was on 6mp for about 2 years. My liver tests started coming back bad, so I had to stop.Been on remicade for awhile now, no trouble with it. So I am sure it's from the mp6.

I think Nexium, 6mp and Rem can cause elevated liver enzymes. Your doctor might need to do a bit of fiddling and experimenting with your meds to determine what the culprit is.

When I was on 125mg of 6MP for a few years my liver enzymes were slightly elevated so I went down to 100 and everything went back to normal. Perhaps if the 6MP is working for you will be able to keep taking it with a smaller dose.

After being on imuran for 3 years, I had to stop taking it because of the liver labs were elevated. I am still on remicade though, and I haven't had any problems since I stopped the imuran.

Mine have gone up and down the last few years, even before I started Remicade and 6mp, so the doctor's haven't figured out what is causing it.  I had an ERCP, MCRP and liver biopsy back in the fall and the only thing that showed up was slight dilation of the bile ducts.  Dr. isn't concerned about it and still has me on the 6mp (even though when I got a copy of my chart, he mentioned in my records about 5 times that I may have to come off of the 6mp, since that can increase your enzymes).  Since mine have now come back down, they just want to keep an eye on them and maybe repeat tests down the road, if they come up again.
