i had a colonoscopy this morning and i figured i'd share the results with you. i havent had one in about 2.5 years, so it was time for a check up. in that time i started the makers diet (been on that for just shy of 2 years now) and i've been off all meds for the last 8 months, so this was an interesting test to have done considering the implications of the results. i was hoping it would indicate my colon was as healthy as i feel, which is fan-freaking-tastic!

i'd like to say that the results were encouraging. they actually were what i anticipated. i still have a stricture down low in the colon and there is a spot of two of very mild disease. this was at the 2 resection points, where from the surgery in 2005 they cut out 8 inches of the sigmoid and 2 inches of ileum (junction of the small and large intestine). the way they do surgery now is to leave in some mild disease in hopes that the medicines you are on or the body itself can counter the active disease. and this way they reduce the chances of one running into "short bowel syndrome" later on in life if they need to perform more surgery (my maternal grandfather died from this cos back in his day they didnt have all the drugs they do now to treat crohn's disease and just did surgery, to where they had to remove more or he'd die, but couldnt cos he'd die if they did).

my GI doc said it was better than the last colonoscopy i had (january 2006) and was pleased with the results and didnt advocate any change in what i am doing. so that was good news. i'll get this repeated again in like 2-3 years.

That's excellent that you had findings such as those! Obviously the Maker's Diet is working for you.

Hi So glad to hear that your scope by reading your post ,was not too bad. Hope you continue to feel so good it is very encouraging and I remember how hard it was for you when you started your SCD .Keep improving and Best Wishes. lol gail

That's amazing! One question...in the stricture that you have was the doctor able to pass through it with the scope? Thanks!

yes, the doctor was/is able to pass the scope through. it is low, down by the rectum. which is a bummer cos if this were to get worse later in my life i would have no choice but ostomy surgery. as no one knows their future, that is something i dont even entertain or dwell on as i'd rather enjoy the time i have now and not waste my energy on a maybe. if it happens, i'll deal with it then. but so far so good i guess....

Congratulations CH!!! It feels good when you persist with something and get good results with it. For me commiting and staying on a specific diet is sooo hard....I admire you for your determination and commitment. Well Done!...Things will continue to go well for you I'm sure!
Maybe , when you have your next colonoscopy the results will be even more amazing!

Congrats CrazyHarry, ! The Makers Diet did a terrific job for you. Now I have to consider it may be in combination with ldn. why not! Ldn is working well for me too i have reduced the diarhoea, and no more pain and cramps.
