does this sound like crohns?

Hi, never posted here before but I am looking for some opinions.


My step sister has been suffering hugely lately (well for the past years) with stomach issues. She spends most of the day in the bathroom with diarrhea especially if she eats anything with wheat or yeast, like breads, chips, cereal ect. or dairy like cheese, milks, icecream ect. or processed meats like lunch meats, hotdogs etc. She seems to do ok on soya milk and on rice flour/breads or potato breads.They want to test her for crohns but she refuses to go get the tests done. She is convinced she doesn't have it and won't get the colonoscopy done. I am worried if it is crohns she is just going to get worse and worse. Sometimes her belly is so bloated she looks 9 months pregnant. Do you think these are signs it could be crohns?

Another thought is has she ever been tested for Celiac disease. I think that can be diagnosed with a blood test. When you say she is sensitive to wheat, flours, breads that makes me think of Celiac.

But as PB4 stated you can't force her to do anything, its going to be up to her to see how long she can handle feeling like crap all the time. I am sure within time, she will lose and the disease (if she has it) will win and she will be forced to get treatment.

Not all Crohn's has rectal bleeding. 

It is possible that your step sister may just have food allergy.  Crohn is rare among people.
