Hi ddr03055, I just copied that from their website. Just my opinion here, but I wouldn't feed that to my dog. The ONLY beneficial bacteria listed is S. boulardii--the one Elaine Gottschall warns against for anyone w/Crohn's or UC!!! On top of that, it is filled with a lot of unnecessary and contra-indicated additives (starch?) and stuff most people can't pronounce. Also, there is no mention of how many cfu (colony forming units) per capsule.

There are frequent discussions here about what probiotics people use. We use Theralac which can be found by putting .com after its name. There are MANY good brands on the market, though. Choose one that has at least 10-15 billion guaranteed cfu per capsule and needs to be refrigerated. Health food stores are probably your best spot to buy them (and I don't consider GNC a health food store....) VSL#3 is probably the strongest probiotic on the market (225 billion cfu per capsule). Some here like it, some don't.

I tried it with no positive results. Didn't make things worse, but it didn't make things better, either.
I feel it was a waste of money.

Wow, Thank you for the advise, I will definately take that into consideration. I just received it and thought before I took it I would ask around.. I had taken acidopholus before and it worked for a short time. I will look into the other forms.. Thankyou SO MUCH!

Rider Fan, thanks for pointing that out! I figured there must be clinical evidence somewhere for doctors to be passing out S. boulardii! I will remain leery, though, because of the fact that it is a strain of yeast. My son has always been sensitive to yeasts/molds/fungi. Even at the bottom of the link it states, "There are at least nine case reports of severe, invasive (internal) fungal infections developing in people treated with the yeast organism Saccharomyces boulardii. All of these people were debilitated or had impaired immune function prior to receiving Saccharomyces boulardii.8, 9 No such adverse reactions have been reported with other probiotic supplements or in people with normal immune systems."

Again, I suppose we are back to what doesn't work for one person might work for another when it comes to Crohn's.

I take it, and I honestly feel that it does help.

Sboulardii is the main ingredient in Florastor a probiotic used to combat c.difficile. I have taken it many times and it really doesn't agree with me causes alot of rumbling in my stomach and mucus in my stools. Many people have favorable reports with florastor though. I used VSL#3.

When my daughter was on treatment for leukemia and had no immune system whatsoever because of all the chemo and she caught the flu for a few months...we couldn't start chemo again because even though she had no symptoms of the flu it was still in her system. The doctor gave her a probiotic called Culturelle to clear the flu from her system and it worked!! Culturell is sold at CVS and needs to be refridgerated.
